Out of the Darkness

There’s so much darkness in the world today.

We can’t miss it if we browse the headlines or watch the news.

We might even be in the middle of it ourselves.

But Isaiah 9:2 reminds us that there is light in the darkness…not flickering but radiant…not distant but here with us…not blinding but illuminating:

“Out of the Darkness”

We’re walking in darkness, burdened by sin,
Blinded by ignorance, lost deep within,
We desperately need to now do what is right,
And humbly submit and follow God’s light.

The light became flesh as He entered this world,
Shining on us as His plan was unfurled,
He paved the way to end our misery,
Unveiling to us His light’s mystery.

He wants us by choice to pursue His light,
To step forth in faith, not walk just by sight,
His light brings us love, salvation, and peace,
When we turn to Him, repent and release.

His light guides us then on His righteous way,
The dawning for us of a joyful new day,
We follow the light and no longer roam,
When out of the darkness, we’ll find our true home.

Till then there’ll be trouble in our fallen state,
But we have God’s light, His love, and His grace,
To strengthen and guide us as we journey on,
While we’re clinging tightly to God’s only Son.

The darkness still grows, it seems undeterred,
We know though through faith, it’s not the final word,
For Christ overcame, the victory’s won,
Our home will be with Him when work here is done.

From darkness to light…from despair to hope…from distress to peace…from wandering to homecoming.
