Steadfast Hope
As I’m working through various challenges in this season of my life, I keep being reminded of where my hope lies and where my focus needs to be.
Even so, I find my mind wandering to the discomfort of my axiety and to the urgency of my situation.
This poem is a reminder for me to stay focused, hold tight, and be confident:
“Steadfast Hope”
The world can feel like wilderness
it’s dry and parched, filled with darkness,
it seems the worst when I’m the weakest,
and then the contrast is the starkest;
for in the dark, Your light I see,
it reaches down and uplifts me,
though by myself, I’m not alone,
You always make Your presence known.
I hold on tight to what You said,
I’m finding hope in what I’ve read,
You will not leave me, won’t forsake me,
You stay the same, You’re trustworthy,
You’ll comfort me when things are tough,
I know from You, grace is enough,
since You’re with me, I’m not dismayed,
You’re with me till the end of the age.
You fill up any emptiness,
and cleanse my heart of messiness,
You show me proof of Your presence,
which gives me needed resilience,
I listen hard for Your guidance,
by faith I follow with reliance,
with steadfast hope and confidence,
I trust in all Your promises.

I think we all yearn for pure hearts and perfect focus, and I know we all fall short in those desires.
So thankful for a Lord that is always present and always sharing, and even in darkness, I can find His light illuminating the way and bringing me back to that needed focus and hope in Him.
In His love,
Stan
