God’s Peace

I needed peace this week…from the worries…from the anxieties…from the uncertainties…from the frustrations…from the noise that only seems to get louder as my need for peace grows stronger.

So I wrote this poem as a reminder to me again of where that peace comes from:

“God’s Peace”

I need the peace that comes from You,
that gift You give, for those who choose,
to let things go, release to You,
and trust You for what You will do;
You’ll guard my heart, You’ll guard my mind,
the only way I can unwind,
I’m praying now intentionally,
I need Your peace, protecting me.

Your peace I’ll never understand,
it comes from grasping Your strong hand,
You’ll hold me tight, and comfort me,
open my eyes and let me see,
Your presence here in everything,
it eases all my worrying,
With You with me I need not fear,
Just need to trust that You are near.

My heart has calmed, You’re in control,
It’s praise to You I will extol,
You’ve gifted me tranquility,
it killed off my anxiety,
I’ll keep my focus now on You,
worshipping with gratitude,
I know that trials will still come,
but with Your peace, I’ll overcome.

I found peace in writing this poem…in worshipping the Lord through the writing that occurred…in prayerfully considering His Word and His sharing on peace.

It was a timely reminder for me that the path to peace is to “be still and know”, to be steadfast and focused on the Lord, to worship with gratitude, and to “trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding.”
