Listen

I listen to the Lord much like I listen to others in life…sadly…by matching the words to what I want to hear or know, rather than truly embracing what is heard and faithfully wrapping my thoughts actions around those words.

Listening now is truly different for me.

I move ahead, my goals in mind,
Listening not, I’m in a bind,
Losing my way, believing in me,
Looking away, don’t want to see.

End of my road, needing Your help,
Tuning my heart, subverting self,
Hearing You now, seeing Your words,
Words to live by, not before heard.

Learning by heart, praising Your name,
Bursting with joy, healthy my aim,
Better decisions, as I go forth,
You leading me, setting my course.

Listening now, different for me,
Actively seeking, wisdom from Thee,
Watching with awe, all that I see,
You weaving now, my tapestry.

My story changed, written by You,
Peace now is found, all is made new,
Learning Your word, resisting the noise,
Immersing myself, to You rejoice.
