Nothing Is Everything

When I spend time thinking back to those most challenging moments in my life – personally, professionally, and spiritually – I remember the pain, the challenge, the temptation. I remember vividly those moments when hope was all that was left.

And now, with hindsight, I realize I had so much more than I imagined or realized during those times, which gives me assurance today:

“Nothing Is Everything”

I only see the things I lack,
All that I lost, I want that back,
I feel deprived, want so much more,
In my despair, I hit the floor,
I share with God my suffering,
I am in need, I have nothing,
My only hope is in the Lord,
I ask of Him to be restored.

He shares with me a different view,
Of what it means to be made new,
Of finding joy in my despair,
And knowing that my God does care,
To see riches through heaven’s eyes,
To be grateful, not yield to lies,
To be content with what I have,
Trust God to fight on my behalf.

I see richness now differently,
Not what I own or what I see,
But what I do with what He gave,
When by His grace my life He saved,
He gifts me with His love and peace,
When I to Him my needs release,
His joy replaces my aching,
And makes my nothing, everything.

In the midst of the heartache and trauma, it’s sometimes hard to find the blessings or feel the peace that the Lord promises will come and are available for those who love and trust Him.

That’s why looking back at those previous times, where I now know He was there with me and for me, they give me that needed perspective to better approach today and tomorrow.

With faith, I can see my nothing is truly everything.

Blessings to you!
