This Is Not My Home
We’ve all felt the urge to fit in, to be comfortable, to be stable, to be affirmed, to have a sense of belonging in this world.
It’s natural to want to be cozy here and to settle in.
But we’re just passing through!
Scripture reminds us that this is all temporary:
“This Is Not My Home”
I look around, see evidence,
That things don’t last, no permanence,
Yet I still try to anchor down,
And build my life on worldly ground;
I fit right in, get comfortable,
Follow the world, acceptable,
I toil hard with lots of pride,
It’s in the world I now abide.
As time goes by, things just feel wrong,
I’ve got a sense I don’t belong,
I feel You, Lord, now calling me,
To view life very differently;
Instead of chasing comfort here,
Pursue the home that’s getting near,
A home that’s built through deeper faith,
The obedient life You cultivate.
Your Spirit has now challenged me,
“Prioritize eternity”,
It changed my heart, I felt renewed,
Gave me purpose, focused on You;
It came with new identity,
A pilgrim now, not home for me,
For all that’s here will fade away,
But not my home with You one day.

The Lord calls us to live here with pilgrim’s purpose – His purpose for us – with our efforts energized by urgency and expectancy.
Our time here is short, but thankfully, this is not our home. A permanent, secure home awaits those He calls His own.
So…purposeful focus with eternal perspective.
Anchoring on His promises!
