The Narrow Gate
With all the divisive rhetoric in the world today, it’s comforting to pause and reflect on those things that define a different and divinely purposeful way, which promises peace both here in this life and forevermore.
Matthew 7:13-14 shares the contrast in choices and offers the invitation to step through that narrow gate:
“The Narrow Gate”
The easy path is what most try,
It lures with grandeur, tempts with lies,
A world of options, all so vain,
All wrapped in pride and great disdain.
The narrow gate, though, tried and true,
Is opened now for those renewed,
Its guide is Christ who made one plea,
“Pick up my cross and follow me.”
He calls to us from up above,
And asks for us to share His love,
To walk His path, to Him submit
Trust and release, to Him commit.
The path less travelled, not for all,
For those who yield to the Savior’s call,
And with His strength, we stand the test,
Walk through His gate, to then find rest.

In thinking about the narrow gate and that road less traveled, I thought about those attitudes and actions that characterize those who choose that different path…things like:
- Submitting
- Repenting
- Praying
- Praising
- Trusting
- Loving
- Serving
- Forgiving
- Sharing
- Rejoicing
- Growing
- Renewing
What a blessing to know there is a different way…that narrow road…challenging but fulfilling and rewarding…so thankful.
