Broken

We often times approach the Lord with expectation and arrogance, wanting Him to respond based on what we want and in our timing. But the Lord has clearly said we should approach Him with brokenness and repentance, fully knowing we are sinners and in need of His forgiveness.

Thankfully, through His grace, sin is not our destiny.

I now approach Your throne of grace,
With broken spirit, seek Your face,
I know You see my contrite heart,
Your love and mercy won’t depart.

I ask you to erase my shame,
Rebuild my life, my soul reclaim,
I turn to you in deep despair,
My life in need of great repair.

You draw me close and grant me peace,
My trust in You allows release,
Of burdens from the sin in me,
Which will not be my destiny.

I step forth now with renewed hope,
With help from you I now can cope,
With all that worked to drag me down,
Through faith in You, I’ll claim my crown.
