Identity

It’s a bit overwhelming but exciting for me to think about having the identity – “child of God”.

That is the gift He gave me through His mercy and grace…a gift He offers all who will open their hearts, let Him in, and trust their lives to Him.

So thankful for a love that welcomes even me:

“Identity”

I saw You there, You held my hand,
You helped me up, and now I stand,
You welcomed me to be Your own,
You gave me life I had not known.

With faith in You I am now changed,
My path in life You have arranged,
I now have purpose, You defined,
Thy will be done, I am aligned.

I’m thankful that You’re with me now,
In praise of You I humbly bow,
I’m welcomed to Your family,
My future is now guaranteed.

I’m with you for eternity,
Through mercy’s divine amnesty,
My identity now from above,
I am Your child and feel Your love.

It’s humbling to know that our choice came through great sacrifice, and that being part of God’s family isn’t tied to our bloodlines but a direct result of the shedding of His blood.

Through His love we have an identity defined not by this world but by our Creator.

But only through faith can we claim it.
