No Idea
This poem is for all of us who are stepping forward in faith, not knowing where the journey may be taking us, but trusting the Lord in the midst of the always swirling doubts and fears.
Just like Abraham, we too may not have a clear understanding of the route or the destination when the Lord calls us and we take those first, faith-fueled steps.
But we step forth anyway…maybe cautiously rather than courageously in those first steps…but we step…and with each step, through faith, our trust will grow.
“No Idea”
I’m looking ahead, the path isn’t clear,
I have no idea of what might appear,
I step forth in faith, for You have called me
I am saying “yes”, obediently;
I am trusting You to provide and protect,
To know what I need, to never reject
The prayers that I raise, so it will be known,
Whatever comes up, I am not alone.
I’m always ok, till I hear the noise,
That comes from the shadows and forces a choice,
To give in to fears or to anchor on You,
I end up uncertain for what I will do;
It is in that moment, I feel You near,
In all of the noise, it’s Your voice I hear,
“Keep stepping forward while trusting in Me,
Why I brought You out here, soon you will see.”
With Your assurance, I keep going on,
The noise is still here, but hope is beyond,
To where You are leading, Your purpose for me,
It’s pulling me forward, I can’t wait to see;
With each step I take, I’m trusting You more,
Though still no idea of what is in store,
The fear that I felt no longer grips me,
For whatever may come, with me You will be.
