Why Me?

It’s hard at times to understand how our God of all creation can be present with any one of us specifically and care about our personal needs and issues.

In the “why me” moments, remember those times when you felt His peace, when you felt Him near, or when He intervened.

It’s through the remembering that “Why me?” is replaced with “He’s with me, He’s for me, He will not fail me!”

Why Me?

I look at the enormity,
Of all that’s part of land and sea,
I look out through the deep night sky,
And see Your presence far and wide.

And as I look, I can’t conceive,
Why You would choose me to receive
Your gift of love, immeasurable,
Be close to me, inseparable.

I pause and pray and ask, “Why me?”
Fully knowing my penalty
That should be rightfully severe,
But I was ransomed, debt was cleared.

You share with me in quiet voice,
That all Your angels do rejoice,
When those like me choose to submit,
And humbly to Your way commit.

You ask me now to trust You more,
Step forth in faith with peace restored,
Accept that I am dear to You,
And with my faith I am made new.

I still don’t fully understand,
But I grasp tightly to Your hand,
So thankful that You care for me,
And love me unconditionally.
