Cycles

We each feel a rhythm to life – the repetition of days, the routines we settle into, the cycles that just keep occurring.

Sometimes these cycles are exciting, sometimes they are exhausting, and sometimes they are just simply numbing.

But God’s word reminds us that that our Lord is present in every cycle, and each is purposeful to Him:

“Cycles”

The march of time is relentless,
We wake, then work, then try to rest,
When each day ends, a new one comes,
Regardless of what’s left undone;
In each cycle, we can find hope,
Every turn’s on divine spokes,
The center is our Lord above,
The spokes are anchored in His love.

The cycles come purposefully,
A needed refresh, thankfully,
For with each spin, lessons are learned
That increase faith with every turn;
The highs, the lows, the joy, the sorrow,
The peace, the stress, new days still follow,
The light, the dark, the passage of time,
From the Lord’s perspective, it is sublime.

Our lives on earth are temporary,
But cycles can be extraordinary,
When we believe our God above
Will lovingly provide enough
Of all we need to hold on tight
In every cycle, day and night,
For with each turn, we draw closer,
To endless rest with our Savior.

In reading this, I hope you too are comforted in knowing that every cycle, every season, every turn is meaningful to the Lord.

Whatever cycle we may be in right now, may we each feel Him with us and for us and fully believe He’ll never fail us.

And may we trust that our Lord is preparing us for that day when the cycles cease, and eternal rest with our Savior begins.

In His peace,

Stan

  1. Strange that the 11pm stillness brings rumination, but your words still manage to introduce a sense of calm and comfort. I’m glad you’re publishing, and blessed to have seen your post just when it was most needed. Thank you for that.
